Firm Receives Notice of Allowance for Patent of Novel Fractal Antenna Approach
BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 2002--Fractal Antenna Systems, Inc., reports that it has received a Notice of Allowance (NOA) from the US Patent and Trademark office for a patent relating to fractal antennas and fractal resonators (filters). Upon issuance, the new patent will be the firm's fourth patent in its intellectual property portfolio that encompasses its proprietary work on antennas, electronics, optimization, and related endeavors.
Fractals are intricate designs that repeat on a number of size scales. Fractal Antenna Systems, Inc. uses fractal geometry to make antennas which contain no parts, are smaller, broad/multiband, higher gain, more closely pack, and/or are frequency independent. The firm's Chief Technical Officer, Nathan Cohen, founded the field of antenna elements based on fractals in 1988. This field now comprises a discipline of well over 400 researchers worldwide in over 20 different countries.
The firm has grown and increased revenue through the present technology downturn, and has successfully delivered fractal element antennas and arrays to customers in the industries of WLAN, RFID, military, aerospace, vehicular, marine, wireless, cellular, telematics, security, and many other commercial applications.
David A. Moschella, CEO, noted the importance of the latest NOA. "After a short respite, this is the latest in a series of new patents to be granted to Fractal Antenna Systems. Patents will continue to stream from the company, a reflection of our success in capturing the rights to the technology we created. These patents also assure our customers that it isn't just a matter of creating a technology, but being able to give them the security of our Fractal Advantage(TM)."
