Fractal Redefines Broadband Wireless with Universal Access Antenna-TM- Line

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 2002--Fractal Antenna Systems, Inc. today announced the availability of the first product of a new antenna line. The UAVee(TM) 6000 antenna, the first in the new line, has unprecedented wide band characteristics that deliver added value to the end user through cutting edge fractal technology . By replacing a host of antennas with a single unit, end users gain versatility and effectiveness in a small antenna that works at many different modalities and bands across virtually all commercially desired wireless spectrum.

The UAVee(TM) 6000 antenna (`universal access vehicular'), is a small radomed antenna with flat SWR from 400 MHz to over 6000 MHz. Mounted on a vehicle, the tiny antenna replaces a variety of others operating at cellular, WLAN, UWB, SDR, wireless broadband and many other frequencies. The five inch tall radome contains a fractal antenna with virtually unity gain to a dipole; is omnidirectional and linearly polarized; has no electronic parts; and is extremely rugged and weatherized.

At the heart of the universal access antenna(TM) line is Fractal's proprietary fractal element antenna technology. Discovered and pioneered by the firm's scientists, fractal elements are beautiful geometric forms built up of shapes that repeat over many size scales. In the case of the new antenna line, the fractal geometry produces the extremely wideband response, while shrinking the size as well.
